Question by Amber: Can my employer legally do this?
Today my manager decided that we are no longer allowed to have cell phones in the building. We used to keep them locked in our purses (which are subject to random searches) but 1 girl got caught texting. So now we have 3 options.
Leave our phones at home (so if anything happens while driving we won’t have a phone to call someone.

Leave our phones in our car (its AZ, still triple digit weather)

Give our phones to the manager to keep during the day, tho her “office” has no lock and no drawer or cupboard that locks and she is rarely in it. (I don’t feel comfortable leaving my expensive phone in the hands of someone else to easily get broken or lost and they won’t replace it bc there’s no proof they did it. And they said if we don’t comply, we are fired.

Can they do this? Why or why not?
My issue is, why can’t we keep it in our purses? Then its not with us during work. And I meant if I was driving and broke down, I need my phone. I’m not gonna walk my pregnant in this heat. And if I left it in my car, it’d be sitting in triple digit heat for 10+ hrs. The phone manual even says to not keep it in temps over like 89 or something for prolonged periods of time.

Yeah they can absoloutly do this…. Its thier bussiness they can pretty much decide if they want cellphones in it, i mean theyre not paying you to text all day long!

and what do you mean you wont have a phone to call some one if something happens?
theres a thing called a LAND LINE.

i would suggest you put your phone in the car.
i mean they have the right to fire you

i missed the first two classes at school bcuz i just got back from vacation and overslept. anyway, when i get to school, i wait outside the classroom. there r a lot of people walking to and from classes but i would’ve noticed if my class was coming out bcuz they were in the classroom across from mine. so i go into the classroom after everyone leaves but im still 10 min early. i wait there until 10 minutes past when class was supposed to start and no1 is there. i look in the computer lab but no one is there either and i cant see anyone around the school which they usually are.

so i went home bcuz i didnt know what to do and i tried calling my school twice but no one picked up. im on the verge of being expelled because i just got back from vacation and i missed so much school my attendance is terrible and it was before too bcuz of personal issues

my school doesnt have an office or anythin like that, they have a place where this man sits on his computer all day nd when u ask him questions he never knows the answers bczu his job is only to make photocopies and sell u stuff u need for school

when a teacher is sick or something, it shows up on this board at school and my teacher wasnt there. if they rnt on the board, they usually send u an email. i didnt get one

also the man who’s in the “office” is the 1 who answers the phone so he clearly isnt there newy

They denied it and sent a letter to “corporate office”. I felt like I was just being ditched. I keep my car in perfect condition and clean so I always know if there is something wrong with it. They put new speakers in my doors and ran new wiring. I drove it straight home. Then the next day I noticed it. I took it back up there and they denied cracking it. I guess I’m waiting to hear back from them. How much does a dashboard cost? I can’t be drivin’ around all ghetto. I keep my car neat (OCD). What do I do? BTW: 02 Cavalier
Off course they said it was from the cold, and I said “It has not been cold and I have other experts that say they do take out that part off the dash.” They are not getting away with this. They were like “We didn’t even need to touch that part.” Then why are there pry-marks on it? I’m not stupid, and I won’t give up. I appreciate all of your answers.
Hope your week is going better than mine.
And when I went to go pick my car up, the guy was just like “Here’s your keys.” They didn’t even check the car out with me like they were supposed to. And I was just too excited to listen to my new speakers to think about it.
BTW, I cleaned my car just before taking it up there (OCD).
Another BTW: When they did the pre-check, the paper says “no interior damage”, Of course they ignored that one too. But I have that with my receipt.
The stereo gods are angry.

Did they make you sign a paper where it says it has any damage to the car. If so, look at that paper and check if you wrote down any damage. Thats why you got to check it before you leave.

Question by : who to call if the DPS doesnt answer there phones?
Hi, i tried to change my drivers liscense adress online, and at the end of all the questions it declined my debit card, so i went home, got my other one, came back to work and tried to put in my info again and it said
“Our records indicate that you have already done a transaction for a Driver License or Identification Card renewal through DPS online. If you have questions, please visit your local Texas Department of Public Safety Driver License Office.”
If anyone knows how i can get back into the system to try a different card let me know, but incase im screwed with that, does anyone know who ELSE to call besides the DPS? ive been waiting for someone to answer my call (pretty much been on hold) the stupid promt keeps repeating itself every few minutes, for over an hour. im still holding the phone to my face.

Wow, same situation I’m in.
Honestly, there seems to be no other option but to keep trying the DPS. I’ve yet to call them myself as I just got this message and they’re closed for the day. :/ They really should have fixed this error before they released the online renewal.
